Help me welcome Danni Price, (She’s the one on the left.
) a fellow MuseItUp author, with a holiday novella releasing December 6. Let’s just jump right in and find out more.
Where are you from and did you always want to be a writer? Did you do something else before your writing career?
I am from Southwestern Pennsylvania. I always wanted to be a writer, but I never thought I would be any good at it. I was a master at writing a chapter or two and then coming up with excuse after excuse for not finishing. About two years ago, I decided no more. I started writing and didn’t stop.
I’ve done a lot of things before I started writing seriously. My oddest job to date was working for a company that researched parking garage projects in order to sell the information to others. I still work full time, but it’s nothing so out of the ordinary.
Do you have any special time management tricks for working in writing time and living a “normal” life?
Not really. I keep a tablet with me at all times to jot down things anytime inspiration strikes. Also, I find time to write nearly every day with the occasional break for when I am feeling burnt out. I usually can only write at night after the kids are in bed. So coffee is also very important!
What is the best advice you’ve received about this journey?
Just write even if you don’t think it’s very good. You can’t edit a blank page.
What do you wish you’d known before you began?
I wish I had taken a few more classes on how to write at the start. I read a lot and still do. It helps, but there are some things you need to learn like not to use so many adverbs!
What process do you use? Are you more of a plotter or pantser?
I’m a pantser! I will create a general outline as a timeline of events, but I invariably change my mind as I go along. I love the freedom of getting to know my characters as I go along and change things when it feels right.
What sources do you use for inspiration? (Music, movies, people watching)
I use music, movies and pictures. For my Christmas novella, I was influenced by a Billy Joel song of the same name (Honesty). I must have listened to it a thousand times while writing. To me, it captures how the heroine feels about life. There are a few other pop culture references in the story that you might catch.
Oh and confession time, I am the type to scour the internet for pictures of gorgeous men for inspiration.
What is next for you?
I am always working on several things, but I am in the end stages of editing an accidental wedding story set in Las Vegas. It features a hero in a kilt!
Now for the fun stuff.
What do you do when you aren’t writing?
I have two little girls who pretty much monopolize my free time. I do love to watch scary movies and television shows. Right now I am absorbed in The Walking Dead!
If you could only eat three foods what would they be and why?
I kind of have a potato obsession. So, I would take potato salad, mashed potatoes and for variety baked sweet potatoes.
What would you like to do other than writing if talent/skill didn’t matter?
I would love to be able to sing, but talent matters and I don’t have it. My kids even yell at me to stop when I try to sing in the car. It’s an unfortunate thing.
Where is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Vacation? What’s that? My favorite spot is Disney World. There is so much for kids and adults both. It’s somewhere everyone in my family can enjoy! Oh and it’s nice to go in the fall and winter when it’s cold in Pennsylvania.

Excerpt:
“You know that isn’t a good idea.” A deep voice startled her from the far side of the house near the back yard.
Jerking back, Hannah lost her balance and fell back onto the muddy ground. One slipper flew off and ricocheted against the side of the house.
Busted! She squeezed her eyes shut and prayed. “It isn’t what you think.”
The mystery man chuckled, a lovely warm sound that reached down to her now soaking wet toes. Unable to help herself, she opened her eyes to search out the face that went with the unfamiliar voice.
He was young, college young, at least five years her junior. A shame, because he was handsome, almost pretty, with dark brown hair that fell carelessly over his eyes. Yeah, he was the type of man who’d only get better looking with age. Who was he?
“I can explain.” The mud she’d landed in finally made it through her robe to her backside. She grimaced.
“You can? Cause it looks like you were trying to get yourself electrocuted in an attempt to mess with my brother’s decorations.” He tipped his head in the direction of the house, yet his tone was friendly. In the next instant, he reached out a hand.
She sighed. “Are you going to call the cops?”
“No. As long as you promise not to cut that wire. Well, not until you unplug everything first.” With a smile and remarkably little effort, he pulled her to her feet.
Hannah gaped at him until he pulled his hand away, the hand she’d held on to for a moment too long. Embarrassed, she hunted down her ruined slipper and slid it back on. She kept her eyes straight ahead, which happened to be smack dab in the center of the faded red hoodie he wore.
“Um, well…” She glanced up to find him grinning down at her.
The back door of the Bodner’s house crashed open. “What’s going on? Is that you, Joel?”
Joel grabbed her shoulders and hurried toward her house. He opened the side door and shoved her through it. Before she could turn around, he’d yanked the door shut.
She leaned against it in an attempt to listen to their conversation, but could only distinguish a few muffled words through the heavy wood. A few minutes later, the voices faded away. A thousand questions buzzed around in her head, but judging by the silence, they wouldn’t be answered tonight. She pushed off the door, ready to head back to bed, when someone rapped lightly on it.
She swiveled back and pushed the thin white curtain aside. Sure enough, Joel grinned back at her. The door swung open with a creak. She flinched at the sound, her nerves stretched to the limit.
“Hey.”
“Uh, hey.” Her mind blank, she fumbled for something to say. Only, she’d never faced a situation like this before.
His grin grew until it seemed to take over his entire face. “I didn’t get your name.”
Shoot. He planned to snitch on her after all. Eyes glued to the floor, she mumbled, “Hannah.”
“Hannah, huh? That’s pretty.”
Her head jerked up. What the heck was he talking about?
“Well, Hannah, I promise to help you with my brother if you promise to meet me here tomorrow night.”
Somehow, she managed a small “okay” along with a tiny nod.
