The Holidays Are Nearly Over

Did you get to spend time with family and friends?

Did you get the things you wanted for Christmas?

What about travel plans. Did they work well, were a disaster, or something in between?

We almost never travel over the holidays, because we are some of the fortunate people who live in the same town as our kids and grands. We have other family at farther points from us, but for Christmas, we’re here in Fort Worth.

Christmas Eve we spent with younger daughter and her family, attending their church and hanging out at their house for supper and games afterwards.Bingo made by youngest granddaughter.

 Bob reused the ribbon from the napkin. No drinking was involved in this behavior.

 Charley on our unmade bed, enjoying the Yule Log and puppy on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel. Charley doesn’t usually watch TV, but he was really into this show.

Because our daughter who hosts Christmas (I do Thanksgiving, and younger daughter does Easter.) has been staying at their ranch house about 1 ½ hours from us, Christmas morning was different from most years.

They bought a new house when theirs sold unexpectedly, but the new house wasn’t ready for them to move into. So, the Fort Worth part of the family drove down yesterday morning. Both daughters had their Mothers-in-Law, too. We are fortunate we all get along. We returned last night after a lovely time together.

All three grands had a great time. Santa was certainly good. Lilly loved her precious little “faux” puppy. He was absolutely charming, even coked his head!

I forgot my wonderful pumpkin pies! Didn’t realize it until we were too far down the road to go back. Sorry, family. They turned out really good, if I do say so.  We had plenty of sugar in the form of sugar cookies, two kinds of fudge, and pies a MIL brought.

We haven’t sent out the Christmas cards yet. Do you still do those? We still receive quite a number. But with the loss of Bob’s brother and a very close friend from church, and Bob and I both getting sick, everything didn’t get done. The cards will go out in the next day or two. I don’t think it matters too much. The point is to reconnect with folks and to let them know we’re thinking of them.

So now it’s catch-up time. I’ve already mentioned the cards. As I write this on Wednesday, I’m waiting for the security guy to get here to fix some glitch in the system. Then it’s off to cleaners to take and drop off a suit, Office Depot for magenta so I can finish printing Christmas letter, then the store to get soup fixings. Bob has had a bit of a relapse and wants my chicken veggie soup for supper. Hopefully, I can get all that done and get back home before the thunder storms hit.

Oddly, we’re  having a spring day with the possibility of hail and tornadoes! Yikes.

And, yes, I do know I need to get back to my book, so I can send ACT OF SURVIVAL to the kind folks who’ve offered to be Beta Readers. Expecting to send it to them before the end of December. I’ve definitely had a sliding deadline with this one!

Before my next blog it will be 2019! Now that’s really something. Happy New Year, friends. As always, I’d love to hear from you.
